This page explains how The Usable Pantry handles information when readers visit the website, follow a link, or contact the publication.
Who operates this website
The Usable Pantry is an independent publication. For questions or requests concerning this page, use hello@theusablepantry.com.
Information handled when you visit
Hosting and delivery data
The website is hosted by Vercel. When a website request is made, hosting and network infrastructure may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as the requested URL, timestamp, IP address, browser or device information, and related request or security data.
Vercel describes its own practices in its Privacy Notice. The exact production configuration and available log-retention settings determine what applies to a particular request.
Website analytics
The website uses Vercel Web Analytics. According to Vercel's current Web Analytics documentation and privacy and compliance documentation, the service stores anonymized, aggregated analytics data and does not use cookies. It may process information such as page path, timestamp, referrer, filtered query parameters, broad geolocation, device type, operating system, and browser information.
Vercel states that its visitor hash resets daily and is not designed to track a visitor between different days or websites. The Usable Pantry must not place names, email addresses, account identifiers, order numbers, or other personal information in tracked URLs, query parameters, or future analytics events.
The site does not use advertising pixels, cross-site behavioral advertising, or analytics cookies. If that changes, this page and any required consent controls must be updated before the new collection begins.
Information you send by email
If you contact The Usable Pantry, the publication may receive your email address, display name, message, attachments, and any other information you choose to provide. That information will be used to respond, investigate a correction or rights issue, maintain an appropriate record, prevent abuse, or protect the publication and its readers.
Do not send passwords, payment-card information, government identification numbers, health records, or other sensitive information. Pantry photographs should not include faces, addresses, mail, prescriptions, reflections, or other personal details unless their inclusion is necessary and expressly agreed.
Information the website does not currently collect directly
The website does not currently provide:
- user accounts;
- public comments;
- a newsletter signup;
- online checkout or payment processing;
- personalized advertising;
- a public contact form; or
- direct collection of Amazon order or payment information.
This list must be updated before any of those features are introduced.
How information is used
Information may be used to:
- deliver, secure, debug, and maintain the website;
- understand aggregated page traffic and referral sources;
- identify broken routes or content that readers find useful;
- respond to messages and privacy requests;
- investigate corrections, accessibility problems, abuse, or rights claims; and
- comply with applicable obligations or protect legal rights.
The Usable Pantry does not sell personal information.
Service providers and disclosures
Information may be processed by providers that operate the website or its communications. The current providers include Vercel for website hosting and analytics, Porkbun for domain registration, DNS, and incoming email forwarding, and Google for storage of forwarded email in the publication owner's Gmail inbox. Those providers process information under their own terms, settings, and contractual roles.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with a valid legal process, investigate abuse or security incidents, protect rights or safety, or complete a business transfer. This page does not promise disclosure where law prohibits it.
Third-party and affiliate links
The website may link to retailers, public authorities, manufacturers, or other websites. When you follow an external link, the destination receives the request and applies its own privacy practices.
If Amazon affiliate links are added after enrollment, Amazon may use its own link identifiers and technologies to attribute qualifying activity under its policies. The Usable Pantry would receive aggregated affiliate reporting, not the buyer's payment details from Amazon. The actual implementation must be reviewed before affiliate links go live.
Read the Affiliate Disclosure for the current commercial status.
Retention
Aggregated analytics and technical information are retained according to the configured providers, plans, security needs, and settings. Email correspondence may be kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain a correction or permission record, resolve a dispute, prevent abuse, or meet an applicable obligation.
Information should be deleted or de-identified when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to backups, security records, and lawful retention requirements. No fixed retention period is promised. Retention depends on the production email and hosting configuration, the type of record, and the reason it is kept.
International processing
The publication is operated from Chile and its service providers may process information in other countries. Privacy and data-protection rules can differ between those locations. Provider documentation should be reviewed for current international-transfer information.
Your choices and requests
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights or choices regarding personal information associated with you. You may contact hello@theusablepantry.com to request access, correction, or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern.
The publication may need enough information to find the relevant record, confirm that it concerns you, and determine whether an exception applies. A request cannot be completed when the publication does not possess or cannot reasonably identify the information.
Children's privacy
The website is written for adults organizing a household and is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child sent personal information to the publication, contact us so the situation can be reviewed.
Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures should be used for the live site and communications, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please limit the personal information you send.
Changes to this page
This page will be updated when the website's services, collection, or commercial relationships change. The published page should display its effective or last- updated date, and material changes should be made before the relevant new practice begins when feasible.
